September Recap
The big news since my last post is … WE MOVED! It was time for more space and what we hope is our forever home. The house hunting process was not easy, but I’m really happy with where we landed and looking forward to (slowly) making the house ours. Most of the summer was spent settling in and—before we knew it—it was September!
Highlights from the month included Labor Day Weekend up north with my mom and sisters, the last boat day of the season at my SIL’s, hosting new neighbors for the Vikings x Packers game, and sampling homemade brews at an Oktoberfest party. Here’s a little more to catch you up …
We got really lucky that we landed in a neighborhood with lots of kids! The family right next to us has a little boy just 6 months older than Cash, and they spend lots of time pushing their matching bubble mowers down the street (and up all the driveways) together. So fun to have a built-in buddy!
Our house is straight out of 1988, but we will be taking our time to make updates! Normalize not having an Instagram-worthy home, right?! One thing I convinced Chris to do in the interim is create a cozy backyard hangout spot with just some string lights and a fire bowl. The only problem is finding time to sit out there after putting Cash to bed, making dinner, etc. I’ll keep you posted as we do more decorating and improving, but for now I’m loving Facebook Marketplace for affordable finds like the Ethan Allen coffee table I scored for $75. We also picked up materials for a closet organization overhaul in the primary bedroom. We used the PAX collection from IKEA!
Cash is 18 months and learning lots of new words, but my favorite is “mee mee” (Mommy). Chris also taught him how to do a very convincing howl for the Timberwolves (ow owwwwww). This summer we bought him a bike seat that connects to the front of Chris’s bike, and it was fun to take some family rides on the bike trail that connects to our neighborhood. He started at a new daycare when we moved, but the transition went well and I can tell he’s learning a lot every day. I can’t believe how fast he is growing! He’s currently obsessed with turning light switches on and off, and loving this Poke a Dot book!
