New Workout Gear to Ramp Up Your Routine Before the Holidays
Merry Christmas! JK, but it’s feeling a lot like the holidays over here with the dusting of snow we got on Friday. It was a good weekend, but a fast one—we sneaked in a little date night, hit a kiddo birthday party (puking included), hit a meat raffle, had brunch with my mom and sister and spent a solid 2.5 hours raking leaves before it was too dark to see (45 bags today!). I gotta say, it felt good to finally hit the couch on Sunday night. 😴
I’m starting this new week with a little tough love for myself. I have NOT been good about getting to the gym lately and feel like I’ve gained some weight since our wedding in June. I usually go to the gym after work, but with it getting darker earlier, I find myself more often heading straight home and slipping into pajamas with a glass of wine. And our weekends have been so full that the gym gets pushed to the bottom of the to-do list. I so wish we had a treadmill at home so I could sneak in a quick 30-min walk first thing in the morning, but sadly the ceilings in our basement are too low for one to fit. 😒
Anyway, this blogger I follow holds herself to walking 30 minutes a day, every day—and I decided to join the challenge. When time is tight (or you’re just not in the mood), holding yourself to just 30 minutes feels more manageable. I don’t want the situation to get worse as we head into the holidays, and I know making time for a little cardio will only help mentally with what can be a stressful time of year, too.
