My Christmas Tree Aesthetic
I cannot believe there’s only 2 weeks until Christmas. Even though I’m still working from home—which should provide more balance and time to relax—I feel like I’ve been so focused on work lately. Or maybe it’s just that without any holiday parties or typical festivities, the season is lacking some luster. Because of all of that, and the year this has been, the Christmas tree is more important than ever. I’m slowly accumulating ornaments, and it’s become a tradition to put one in Chris’s stocking every year—something that symbolizes that particular year in some way. As I was decorating the tree a couple of weeks ago, I most enjoyed pulling these ornaments from the storage box and unwrapping them from tissue paper: the ones with sentimental value or meaning.
The year we were engaged, I got him a pickle ornament, which is supposedly associated with good luck. The year we bought a house, it was a glitter-encrusted toaster to represent domestic bliss (ha). The year we got married, it was this getaway car. And this year, I had to go with this one (CHRIS DO NOT CLICK THIS LINK). As much as I like the idea of a sophisticated tree, in reality I prefer my eclectic mix of old world, kitsch and whimsy—so much cozier to snuggle up to at night.
