The Accessorist Essentials Vol. 1: Get Your Party Pants On
A few weeks ago, Chris and I spent the weekend in Walker with his sisters, mom, stepdad, stepsisters and their littles. Friday, we sat around the farmhouse table talking late into the night, the kitchen full of food, everyone excited about the weekend ahead. Saturday, the skies were clear blue and so gorgeous against the brilliant fall foilage. We hit every antique shop in town (I came very close to buying a ski to mount on the wall—obsessed with cabin decor), took a pontoon ride, sat around the bonfire with lasagna and played board games until bedtime.
The best part of the weekend was when everyone started drifting to bed after Heads Up, and Chris and I were still wide awake—he said, "That's OK, Kendall and I will play by ourselves because we're best friends." It was the the sweetest and most genuine thing—and it stuck with me—that he didn't need the excitement of the group (as I often do)—he just needed me.
I wore my Spanx leggings the ENTIRE weekend (because no jeans allowed at the cabin, right?). I am obsessed—they're the only thing I want to wear on weekends and when traveling. They roll on like liquid and have a control-waist panel that just sucks.it.all.in. They really do make you feel a little skinnier, which is especially crucial on aforementioned lasagna days.
When I'm not wearing Spanx, I pull out my destructed denim (the faded wash on these adds welcome contrast if you're also wearing a black top), and I rely on joggers for work and drinks with friends (pair them with a tee, a sweater or sexy cami depending on the occasion).
Stay tuned for The Accessorist Essentials Vol. 2 for the tops I'm wearing this season!
